Join us throughout the year!

TRFS hosts multiple events year round providing students opportunities to get a better scope of the finance industry while also being that bridge that connects various industry professionals with our brilliant students. From hosting SAF Month where we provide 1st & 2nd year students guidance about the Accounting & Finance industry, to hosting our very own Evening with Capital Markets in which well-respected professionals network with our most talented and curious students, to our annual school wide Junior Ace Case Competition, TRFS has something for all students.

September 2024

SAF Month

SAF Month Day 1: Meet and Greet

SAF Month begins with SAF Day hosted by the Accounting and Finance course unions. Students have the opportunity to listen to a panel of industry professionals and student leaders, followed by an open networking session to have a better understanding of the nuances of their roles and experiences.

SAF Month Day 2: Case Day

Open to all junior students, participants will receive a workshop on case cutting and proceed to apply the material during group case presentations as a way to introduce them to case competitions in a learning environment.

October 2024

Charity Night

The Ted Rogers Finance Society will be hosting its brand-new event focusing on strengthening student engagement and making a positive impact in the community. An evening filled with games, delicious food, networking opportunities, and plenty of surprises. This event allows attendees to connect with fellow students, alumni and industry professionals while supporting a worthy cause.

Women in Finance & Tech

In collaboration between the Ted Rogers Finance Society, Ryerson Women in Leadership and Women in IT Management, the Women in Finance & Tech event brings together various women from the Finance and Tech industry to hear their voices on EDI and industry experiences. Participants will get the opportunity to listen to a panel discussion followed by open networking with the industry professionals and panelists, developing meaningful relationships and expanding their professional network.
JAC delivers a far less intimidating atmosphere than other case competitions while still managing to provide the same value for participants. JAC allows students to improve their communication, analytical, teamwork, and technical skills through experiential learning in a cultivating atmosphere.

Battle on Bay Case Competition

Battle on Bay is Ted Rogers Finance Society’s annual case competition and flagship event. The three-day conference brings together over 60 delegates from across the nation to utilize their problem solving, communication, and financial modeling skills to complete a stock pitch presentation and a follow-up crisis case. The conference is packed with workshops, networking sessions, panels, and socials and is hosted in the vibrant finance district of downtown Toronto.

Junior Ace Competition

Established in 2015, the TRFS’ Junior Ace Competition (JAC) aims to bridge the gap between knowledge gained in the classroom and real-life application. First and second-year students are provided with the opportunity to cut a case and present their solutions in front of a panel of industry professionals and instructors. JAC allows students to improve their communication, analytical, teamwork, and technical skills through experiential learning in a cultivating atmosphere.

An Evening with Capital Markets

An Evening with Capital Markets is TRFS’ and RIG's annual networking session geared towards third and fourth-year finance and business students. The top 50 student applicants are selected by the faculty advisory and career consultants at the Ted Rogers School of Management to attend. The event aims to provide students with a platform to network with finance professionals while establishing valuable connections with industry participants and recruiters. Students also have the opportunity to learn about upcoming summer internship programs and job opportunities in Finance and Capital Markets.
An Evening with Capital Markets aims to provide students with a platform to network with top industry professionals while establishing valuable connections with industry participants and potential hiring managers. Students also have the opportunity to learn about upcoming summer internship programs and job opportunities in Finance and Capital Markets.

Students will not only have a chance to network but also gain relevant insight, as these professionals are equipped with real-life experiences and vast knowledge of the industry.

TRFS ultimately hopes to provide students with lasting connections and a deeper understanding of the different avenues available within the immense world of finance.
